Santa Cruz, CA 2016
Santa Cruz 2016 / 2017, where it all began!
It was almost New Years and we had no plans and time off work… this was the first time we decided to “just go”! We did a quick Hotel Tonight search to see what was available for New Years and we got a bomb last minute deal for a hotel in Santa Cruz! We almost always pack our food with us (Trader Joes you always have us covered in the snack and chocolate department!) so on this trip we brought most of our food with us and splurged on one dinner out… and of course coffee in the morning!
Our first day there was a half day and New Years Eve, so we checked into our hotel and went out in search of dinner! Something that always seems to happen to us is that we end up in places way to fancy for us haha. So naturally we ended up at Shadowbrook which has a dress code and we definitely did not meet it haha. But, they were nice and we were coming for dinner super early so they seated us and we shamelessly instagrammed the cool trolly thingy that takes you down to the actual restaurant! We would recommend the fries, always get the fries!
We rang in the new year hot tubbing, dreaming of taking more trips and eating all the Trader Joe chocolate goodies! The next day we explored Capitola, Santa Cruz, Davenport and other surrounding areas. Shark Fin Cove Beach in Davenport was our favorite! There is a huge shark fin shaped rock coming out of the ocean and a beautiful cove that surrounds it. When we were there, green grass and flowers lined the bluffs above! Probably one of the best views we have seen on the California coast line. We also really liked Natural Bridges State Park! It was beautiful and definitely a favorite for tourists. Our favorite coffee shop was Verve Coffee Roasters, the atmosphere was hip and the coffee was great!
